Lucky Black Cat Spice Co. is a family-owned and operated company that started out in the Hudson Valley region of New York State. We move to Vermont in Spring
of 2005, and are now in Sharon, Vermont.
We have created a line of gourmet spice blends and seasoning mixes to help you re-create restaurant quality
food at home. Maximum flavor, easy to use.
The
idea of a spice business rose from many years working in restaurants. I developed an appreciation for fine food
and a curiousity about flavors from different regions of the country and the world.
Then,
when I was unemployed in January of 2003, my husband and I began to really think about what to do with this love of food
and aquired knowledge. The jobs are not plentiful in the Hudson Valley, especially in the winter and I was pretty tired
of the long and grueling hours in a restaurant. So, we cashed in our small savings and invested in jars, lids,
labels and most importantly, SPICES!
We
had a few ideas from the spice rubs we would make for ourselves and for friends. We would often host themed dinner parties
and BBQ's with other "foodies", so we had been making rubs and blends for these meals. Transferring these recipes from a cup
at a time into larger batches was all we needed to do to get them to market. One of our main concerns is ensuring
freshness, without adding fillers and preservatives.
We
continue to make our blends in small batches with the freshest herbs and spices to guarantee a quality product.
